The 2nd Regional Climate Change Conference (RCCC) 2026

Theme: "Resilience and Climate Change Adaptation: Building inclusive and sustainable communities"

Overarching Aim of RCCC

RCCC will provide a unique opportunity to share science, on-the-ground experiences and policy developments across different countries and communities, with a special focus on early career professionals and female participants, especially from the Global south. RCCC aims to foster future research through the use of state-of-the-art methods in climate modelling, regional/local climate impacts, and risk assessment. RCCC is intended to be held bi-annually on a rotating basis in Sri Lanka and Thailand.

Why RCCC ?

  • Global warming is changing the world already. IPCC AR6 states with high confidence that the current climate in most regions differ from that of the early to mid-20th century, impacting the magnitude, frequency, duration, seasonality, and spatial extent of climate hazards.

  • IPCC AR6 also states, with high confidence, that all regions of the world will face numerous combinations of changes in Climatic Impact-Drivers (CIDs) by mid-century, challenging regional resilience and adaptation. This emphasizes the need for regional-scale approaches to address climate change hazards and impacts.

  • RCCC specifically aims to address this need, with a strong focus on Global south countries where climate change impacts are likely to be felt very strongly.
